Job description: ResponsibilitiesThe Northside Hospital Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to enriching the communities served by Northside Hospital. The Northside Hospital Foundation connects volunteers, donors and resources to build strong and healthy communities.Northside Hospital is seeking an energetic individual for a spring, summer or fall internship position within the Foundation pursuing a future career in nonprofit, marketing, public relations, graphic design or similar field. The candidate must be committed to Northside Hospital Foundation’s mission and have a desire to serve our supporters and volunteers with compassion, integrity and humility. This is a fast-paced, multi-faceted opportunity for a candidate who wants to work hard and gain unparalleled experience in a nonprofit setting.Internships offer college students or recent graduates invaluable resume building work experience and networking opportunities. This internship has been designed to be a learning experience, with ample opportunities to support the implementation of marketing initiatives and interact with partner organizations and participate in events that feature Northside in the community. Interns will work closely with all members of the Foundation team and will have the opportunity to learn about and contribute towards many aspects of the Foundation business.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities vary but may include:

  • Works independently and within a team on fundraising campaigns, event planning and other special, nonrecurring and ongoing projects
  • Attends and represents Northside at events, community settings and individual meetings when potential donor opportunities exist.
  • Takes initiative to build relationships and partnerships with potential donors and sponsors.
  • Assists in the development of marketing plans
  • Assists in managing the development of marketing materials – flyers, brochures, ads, web, etc.
  • Market research activities, including competitive analysis both on- and offline
  • Processes incoming donations
  • Maintains an organized system of tracking, monitoring and prioritizing task and projects assigned to the intern.
  • Generates new ideas and business opportunities to increase fundraising and fund development to meet and exceed established goals.
  • Prepare presentations
  • Provide support to social media efforts
  • Fulfill requests from marketing leads
  • Answer and /or field telephone calls and communications, and respond as appropriate.
  • Handles confidential and non-routine information with sensitivity
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Manager

QualificationsKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREDPrincipal Responsibilities

  • Undergraduate, graduate or recent college graduate with a concentration in or around Marketing/Communications/Public Relations/Non-Profit or a related area of study
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills is a must as a successful candidate will work both internally with the Foundation colleagues and externally with community partners and volunteers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong command of grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Ability to research, write and edit compelling content, from organic social media posts, social ad copy, blogs and other short-form text to longer-form content, such as marketing, e-marketing and media collateral
  • Social media experience on all major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn)
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, or graphic design skills are a plus
  • WordPress experience and/or CSS and HTML5 skills prefered
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Must be organized, detailed oriented with follow-up skills, positive and energetic attitude.
  • Basic familiarity with WordPress
  • Forward thinker; proactive; problem solver, Self-motivated and a self-starter
  • Ability to work as a team as well as independently
  • Professional demeanor
