Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l., Tysons (McLean), Virginia, United StatesResponsibilitiesMultimedia Visual Writer & ProducerThe Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 77,00 pilots at 43 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an experienced Visual Writer & Producer to join the Multimedia Creation and Operations team for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. The Visual Writer & Producer is responsible for collaborating with ALPA’s diverse stakeholders to develop scripts for media products on a variety of internal and external platforms including social media, podcasting, eLearning, live streaming, and more. They coordinate production and post-production processes to ensure that the final products are completed on time and to the highest standards.The successful candidate is hands-on with each project and owns the production process from start to finish. They are adept at taking difficult or abstract concepts and finding creative ways to visualize and/or simplify them. - Bachelor’s degree in relevant area, e.g., Communications or related field required, master’s degree or completion of post-graduate courses in related field preferred, from an accredited college or university; or, the equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience with demonstrated expertise, five (5) or more years strongly preferred. At management discretion, additional equivalent experience and/or ALPA experience with proven expertise may be substituted for the above.
- Strong writing skills to effectively communicate meaningful messages to a target audience.
- Solid communication skills, oral and written, for constructive interaction(s) with member pilots and staff, required.
- Effective interpersonal skills, diplomacy, and tact to work with all levels of employees, management, and membership.
- Demonstrated performance as a self-starter with the ability to work independently, without close supervision, and provide solutions to various issues as they arise.
- Strong attention to detail with organizational and follow-through skills.
- Possesses a positive and helpful demeanor that is collaborative and team-oriented.
- Possesses a strong production vision with the proven ability to turn it into reality.
- Able to develop ideas and work well independently, with little supervision.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud’s video apps a plus.
- Experience writing and producing for educational videos or eLearning modules a plus.
- Experience with the aviation industry and/or labor organizations a plus.
- Experience producing live events a plus.
- Software: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
