You will write data munging / cleaning / pipelining routines.The role fits into an existing team of passionate developers and earth science modelers with backgrounds in hydrology, fluid dynamics, meteorology, computer science, geographic information systems (GIS), environmental science, civil engineering, and statistics. Projects are version-controlled in Git (GitHub). Some projects involve publicly accessible websites and/or open-source codebases. Many projects involve geospatial aspects and interactive maps leveraging vector and raster data.Recent federal and state clients include:

Required Skills & Required ExperienceRequired Skills & Experience

  • 10 years of experience in web development using ReactJS, NextJS, JavaScript, or TypeScript
  • Bachelor’s degree or professional experience in computer science, web development, earth sciences, hydrology, fluid dynamics, meteorology, GIS, or statistics
  • Proficiency in basics of HTML, CSS, SQL (preferably PostgreSQL), Git, Linux, and Python
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs
  • Strong problem solving and persistence
  • Professional communication
  • Willingness to showcase skills through a portfolio, example apps, or shared code

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Docker: development of images and container orchestration
  • GIS programming: GDAL, PostGIS
  • GIS web map app frameworks: OpenLayers, MapBox, Leaflet
  • GIS web data services (serving and consuming): WMS, WFS, WCS
  • AWS: S3, EC2, Batch, Lambda, RDS
  • Python analysis: numpy, xarray, scipy
  • Python GIS: rasterio, geopandas, shapely
