Job description: Prospect Ridge Academy, a public charter school in Adams 12 Five Star District is seeking a dynamic and innovative Communications and Engagement Manager to lead the school’s communications efforts nationwide and build engagement throughout our school. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, possess excellent communication skills, enjoy events and have experience in website development, social media, publicity, and marketing. Under the general supervision of the Community Operations Director, the Communications and Engagement Manager is a skilled communicator who will develop the internal and external communications and will play a pivotal role in promoting the school’s mission, engaging with families, and attracting new students.ResponsibilitiesCommunications:Create and distribute regular communications, including newsletters, emails, and announcements.Ensure timely and relevant updates regarding school policies, happenings, events, and activities.Develop and execute on communication plans for school events that include multiple communication channels to reach specific audiences.Serve as a primary point of contact for communication needs while providing excellent customer service and support.Grow online presence and fulfill communications requestsCultivate, manage and maintain positive relationships with Grade Level Coordinators, parent volunteers who liaison with families at their grade level and the teaching staff.Coordinate the creation of student and school highlights, including videos, testimonials, and success stories.Showcase student achievements, academic excellence, athletics, extracurricular activities, and community involvement through various channels.Develop engaging and informative blog content highlighting student achievements, school events, and educational initiatives.Collaborate with staff, community, and students to gather content and stories for blog postings.Engagement and Event Marketing:Support the communication and engagement of school wide events on and off campus.Develop and implement marketing plans to attract prospective students and families to the school.Create marketing materials, brochures, flyers, and presentations highlighting the school’s unique programs, strengths, and benefits.Support and participate in school-wide events, open houses, and information sessions to promote enrollment opportunities, academic, community, and fundraising development.Publicity and Media Relations:Develop and execute comprehensive publicity plans to raise awareness of the school within the community and nationwide.Cultivate relationships with local media outlets, reporters, and influencers to secure coverage of school events, achievements, and initiatives.Design visuals, graphics and programs as needed.Prepare press releases, media kits, and other materials to promote key announcements and milestones.Website Development and Maintenance:Lead the development and maintenance of the school’s website, ensuring it is up-to-date, accessible to all, user-friendly, and reflective of the school’s brand and values.Collaborate with web platform vendors to implement new features, enhancements, and updates as needed.Regularly monitor website performance, analyze metrics, and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.Qualifications (or Education and Related Work Experience)Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.Preferred – Master’s degree in Media/Broadcast/Film/Video Production, Marketing, Communication, Advertising, Journalism, Radio/TV or related field.3+ years of experience in communications, events, marketing, or public relations, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.2+ years of experience managing others.Organizational and leadership experience.Experience in events, video production, newsletter development, and/or website management.Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail.Proficiency in website content management systems (CMS), HTML/CSS, and web analytics tools.Experience with social media management, email marketing, and digital advertising platforms.Experience in video production, newsletter development, and/or website management.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lean into team projects to help where and when needed.Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for education and community engagement.Preferred – Experience in a charter school or nonprofit setting.Skills and AbilitiesProblem Solving – Identify and resolve problems promptly; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternate solutions; work independently and collaboratively to achieve District and department goals.Customer Service – Excellent customer service skills are required.
