The Communications and Event Coordinator will play an integral role in sharing the story of our community and work with a wide variety of audiences, including financial partners, churches and community organizations, volunteers, and general public. This position will help maintain branding and messaging consistency throughout World Relief Wisconsin as well as lead the pivotal role of planning, organizing, and executing community awareness and fundraising events. \nRole & Responsibilities

Social Media and Digital Communications:

  • Lead the daily/weekly deployment of digital content across social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), and serve as the primary responder for messages received on these platforms.
  • Plan, create and send digital and print communications including but not limited to newsletter, fundraising campaigns, event promotion and targeted donor outreach.
  • Work alongside Church and Community Engagement and Development teams in equipping, supporting and empowering staff and community partners in developing digital and print marketing materials consistent with World Relief branding guidelines and Story brand and script.
  • Review and update website content on a regular basis, leveraging national network resources.

Storytelling:

  • Communicate the World Relief Wisconsin impact through the stories of refugees and volunteer experiences.
  • Educate about issues related to immigration.
  • Empower, equip and invite refugees to share their stories.
  • Provide communication support for grant development.
  • Manage the media library (photos, videos, and brand assets)

Media Representative:

  • Coordinate with local media for coverage of WRW events, to include gathering waiver forms and providing pictures to various media as requested.
  • Serve as educational resource for local media contacts as assigned by Regional Director.

Events:

  • Collaborate with Regional Leadership Team to define events and sponsorship goals, objectives, and detailed implementation plans that promote the World Relief Wisconsin brand, mission, and vision.
  • Work with staff and volunteers in planning and implementing high quality events with clear calls to action of event participants. This includes sourcing venues, recommending and engaging catering services, acquiring necessary technology, and coordinating the development of event materials.
  • Track and maintain all event expenses on a rolling basis while adhering to budgetary constraints.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Organized and detail-oriented with project management skills and the ability to transform a big picture plan to actionable steps required.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, adapt to changing goals, and solicit input from others
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and a commitment to telling stories in a way that maintains the dignity, agency, and confidentiality of the story owners.
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure with flexibility in a virtual or in- person team setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and strong database management skills are necessary. Familiarity with Canva and various social media platforms.
  • A desire to serve refugees in support of the mission of World Relief.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience in marketing, public relations, communications, design, or a related field
