You will work a 12-hour shift. The hours are 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM.What you’ll do:

  • Assist the Registered Nurse (RN) or ED Providers to perform selected patient care activities or tasks as appropriate.
  • Report all observations, symptoms, deviations from normal, and changes in patient’s condition to the RN.
  • Perform patient rounds, respond to patient call bells promptly and communicates with appropriate staff to meet patient needs.
  • Performs 12-lead Electrocardiograms (EKG) as directed (within 10 minutes).
  • Assist with patient transport as required and assist in transporting/obtaining medications, specimens, blood products, and patient care supplies as needed
  • Perform Capillary Blood Glucose (CBG) monitoring, as delegated
  • Stock carts and ensure equipment is cleaned after use.
  • Participate in restocking department inventory and supplies.
  • Order and maintain supplies in accordance with unit par levels.
  • Check expiration date of supplies and immediately removes outdated material and report’s findings to RN.
  • Assist the ED Providers to position patient for procedures such as splinting, lumbar puncture, etc.
  • Gather and obtains equipment for procedures such as pelvic exam, suture set up, splinting, etc.
  • Obtain venous and capillary blood samples from patients for a variety of lab tests
  • Admit all patients into the monitoring system
  • Pull through vital signs every 2 hours on all patients admitted in the system
  • Investigate all alarms and communicate to the primary nurse (if they are not available notify charge)
  • Adjust alarm limits as directed by RN

QualificationsWhat you’ll bring:

  • You will start as an ED Tech Level 1, and you will need the following experience:
  • LNA or EMT experience
  • Current registration in the State of New Hampshire as a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) and / or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians EMT/AEMT certification.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • If not AHA BLS certified, must obtain American Heart Association (AHA) BLS within 21 days from date of hire with Catholic Medical Center.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • To advance to the Level II role:
  • Must complete and pass the Basic Dysrhythmia Program course offered through CMC within 6 months of hire
  • Must complete and pass the Specimen Collection/Phlebotomy Program course offered through CMC.
  • Basic computer keyboarding and data entry skills required.
  • Requires the ability to utilize and navigate electronic clinical documentation system in order to enter patient data.
