In this vital role, you will practice integrated and collaborative psychiatry, closely collaborating with primary care clinicians to enhance their psychiatric diagnostic capabilities and therapeutic management skills. Your primary responsibilities will include managing a limited panel of patients whose psychiatric needs exceed the scope of primary care, ensuring timely access to psychiatric care for OCHS’ primary care patients, and fostering effective communication and collaboration among interdisciplinary teams.Summary of duties:

  • Work closely with primary care clinicians, including physicians and advanced practice practitioners, to integrate psychiatric care into the overall healthcare plan. Collaborate on assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans to maximize patients’ well-being.
  • Manage a panel of patients with complex psychiatric needs, ensuring that they receive the specialized care required to meet their unique challenges when external referrals are not feasible due to safety concerns or scope of practice limitations.
  • Focus on maximizing access to psychiatric care for OCHS’ primary care patients, working diligently to minimize any wait lists for psychiatric consultations.
  • Provide clinical supervision for psychiatry RN(s), Advanced Practice Practitioners (Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants), and collaborative care partner(s) to ensure high-quality care delivery and continuous professional growth.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in collaborating with all team members within the Behavioral Health team and the Primary Care team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Deliver evidence-based psychiatric care, incorporating the latest research and best practices into patient treatment plans.
  • Prioritize patient-centered care, fostering a therapeutic alliance with patients and their families to achieve optimal mental health outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards and timely completion of all documentation, coding and billing within 72 hours of direct patient care.
  • Stay current with advances in psychiatry through continuous education and training activities, sharing knowledge and expertise with the healthcare team.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of psychiatric services within OCHS.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards, demonstrating empathy, cultural competence, and sensitivity in patient interactions.

What we need from you:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board certification in Psychiatry.
  • Valid state medical license and DEA registration.
  • Experience in community-based psychiatry and collaborative care models is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to patient care, safety, and well-being.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to embrace OCHS’s mission and values.
  • Eligibility for malpractice insurance.

  • Bi-lingual language skills are considered a plus
