Job description: Department OverviewThe OHSU Division of Infectious Diseases is a group of academic physicians, allied health professionals and nurse practitioners specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases and related disorders. The Division is a leader in clinical medicine, research and education, with a focus on providing outstanding patient care and growth opportunities for all faculty and staff.Function/Duties of PositionThis position is under the direct supervision of Drs. Morgan Hakki and Stephanie Egge working in the laboratory with bacteria, primarily Pseudomonas aeruginosa.This is an entry-level position in a translational biomedical research lab. Key responsibilities will include culturing, processing, and tracking bacterial isolates obtained from the clinical microbiology laboratory, and performing culture-based assays of antimicrobial susceptibility on those isolates. Additional responsibilities will include media preparation, molecular assays (PCR, western blotting), bacterial cloning, and general lab maintenance. The position will provide time and space for the RA to learn additional skills as well as the potential to contribute to other lab research projects.Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in any field; OR
  • Associate’s AND 2 years of relevant experience; OR
  • 3 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Basic understanding of Excel or similar
  • Spreadsheet, data entry and simple management

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science
  • Basic laboratory skills
  • Human Subjects research training (CITI)
