As the #1 Medical App used by Clinicians in the US, epocrates provides vital information for prescribing clinicians to aid in diagnostic, treatment, and medication management decisions. You will be responsible for overseeing the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the apps, website, newsletters and more to ensure epocrates meets the needs of healthcare professionals and delivers a seamless user experience.The new VP of Technology and Product will define the engineering and product strategy and vision; lead roadmap and resource planning; manage a team of technologists and product managers to own key financial targets for products in partnership with sales and marketing; own key metrics for product success including new user growth, engagement, app store ratings, and NPS; own product analytics and UX to direct research that supports customer-centric product development; and drive cross-functional development of launch and product success charters. The Vice President will be a key member of the epocrates leadership team and partner with leaders across athena to drive consistency in engineering and product best practices.Their team will be charged with successfully understanding and responding to trends in the digital media and pharmaceutical marketplace that impact future vision and roadmap of the product portfolio; grooming actionable backlogs of user stories for scrum teams; and helping to achieve aggressive growth targets through launching new products and entering adjacent markets.The Team: You will directly lead and indirectly partner with an overall team of around 65 individuals; including Product Management, Product Market Strategy, Product Operations, User Experience and R&D. The team’s focus is understanding the complex needs of a patient navigating the healthcare system and creating a unique and market leading offering to meet these needs.If you are passionate about leveraging technology to improve healthcare outcomes and have a proven track record in product management and technology leadership, we invite you to join us as the VP of Technology and Product, to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare industry.Job ResponsibilitiesServe as chief evangelist for the epocrates product strategy and vision.Accountable for market expertise development both within product organization and across adjacent epocrates teams; understand what’s next and when to stay the course.Foster customer obsession through product development in mechanisms to evaluate and prioritize top product optimization opportunities.Define new products and services that realize the epocrates growth strategy goals.Develop and execute a comprehensive product roadmap aligned with business goals and user needs.Establish processes and best practices that empower team to develop portfolio and product strategy.Coach organization to lead comprehensive product design, inclusive of software, fulfillment operations, engagement capabilities and service.Leverage insights and feedback from both clients and internal partners, to streamline process of gathering ideas/inputs that improve holistic product decisions.Build relationships with key stakeholders and peer groups to inform roadmap development and promote roadmaps effectively.Provide partnership and perspective to Sales and Product Marketing leaders that help elevate communications to customers and prospects.Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), user metrics, and feedback to continuously improve the app’s functionality and usability.Stay informed about regulatory requirements, data privacy laws, and industry standards to ensure compliance.Collaborate with other members of the epocrates leadership team to deliver against financial targets, realize new user and engagement growth goals, and improve user net promoter scores.Lead, inspire, and develop a team of high performing product leaders, modeling effective relationship building, ensuring high employee engagement, and managing staff career progression.Accountable for workforce planning, staffing/forecasting of resource requirements across multiple geographies. Continually assess and optimize team structure as well as processes, policies and procedures to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness.Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the product and technology team.Accountable for team collaboration to drive resolution of product-related prospect & client escalations.Education, Experience & Skills RequiredBachelor’s Degree required; MBA, or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.Deep understanding of digital media business models, trends, and emerging technologies15+ years relevant engineering and/or product management experience and 5+ years leading product in a relevant vertical (i.e. digital publishing, B2C applications, AdTech, healthcare)Proven experience as a senior product leader in a technology-driven company.Strong technical background with expertise in software development, mobile technologies, cloud services, and data analytics.Technical understanding (mobile, digital content management, digital ad serving capabilities, data) – ability to gut check technical feasibility and timelines and remove technical development barriers.Proven track record of successfully defining and managing consumer-oriented products. throughout the entire product life cycle; Demonstrated success launching new products.Experience successfully building and developing robust product management processes and mechanisms and managing both beta and QA releases.Behaviors & Abilities RequiredExcellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire teams, drive results, and foster a culture of excellence.Strategic thinker with a track record of delivering successful products that meet business objectives and user needs.Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders, present ideas effectively, and build consensus.About athenahealthHere’s our vision: To create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.What’s unique about our locations?
